A Christmas poem from Cyan Chat

Salar Dec 2001
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My special thanks to Scraper for saving the first part of this poem
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

She listens to the peaceful sound
of a Christmas fire's warming cheer
spreading its glow all around
on this happiest evening of the year.

Around her talk is middlin slow
she hears their voices whisper
Mellowed folks with sleepy glow
have little to say thats crisper.

Should she leave the fireside
and prepare for busy morning
or sweetly enjoy the ebb and tide?
Her heavy head's a warning

that soon the sun will bring his light
on another Christmas dawning
her children will gasp with delight
at all the goodies in their sight
...and she really shouldn't be yawning

but...

It is so hard to leave them here,
the kind friends that she's found,
their present cheer is also dear
and Christmas spirit now abounds

but...

uummm..

I think the rhyming beetle has now scuttled off without me.
Guess its time after all ;-)

ssooo...

Goodnight, my friends!

May penguins wake thee sweetly

Christmas Cookies

by Susan McGaw "Salar" Dec 2002

The air is cold outside we're told, but here we treat on cookies sweet

a little snack, a friendly chat, we play a bit of this or that.

and enjoy Christmas

too soon the days will sweep away memories of this Holiday

mailing boxes, watching clockses, Tom comes home from far away dockses

then its Christmas :)

Outside the throng swims fast and strong, but here we rest and feel its best

a quiet read, a splendid feed, each other is all we really need

to enjoy Christmas

The Best Gifts

by Susan McGaw
"Salar of Myst" 2004

Our December days breeze by
like a wild wind flies
full of thoughts and ways
to fill happy plans we've made

Preparing for Christmas

We make up long lists
fill carts with gifts
craft, bake, sew, and scheme
to fulfill happy dreams

Preparing for Christmas

Our cards sail away
others come in to stay
We'll put up our tree
Watch lights blink cheerily

so soon we'll see Christmas

Some friends wish us well
some somehow think we sell
what was given away free
seems some can't open and see

the spirit of Christmas

But our Lord knows our heart
He's given more, for a start
than we could ever repay
and thats why we say

that the best gift is Christmas

:)
